Last June, Managing Editor at Syndicate (and my pal) Silas Morgan asked me if I would be interested in curating one of their symposia on The Virtual Body of Christ in a Suffering World by Deanna Thompson. Their symposia remind me a lot of the review panels that journals like Theological Studies and Horizons sometimes run, where 3-5 people review a book and invite the author to respond. These build on that model and having ongoing exchanges between reviewers and author, with the opportunities for reviewers to comment on each other as well.
One of the delights of writing and editing is seeing a work come to fruition. The symposium on Thompson’s insightful and provocative text is now running, and will continue until the end of May. I encourage you to check it out, to read Thompson’s book, and to let me know what you think!
